How God Speaks

How God Speaks

People ask how God speaks – is it audible, dictation, or what? This is difficult to explain. It is not quite audible in the same sense as human conversation. It is more thought put into words. He speaks with familiar words, but frequently the phrasing or the use of particular words is not the way I normally speak. Some parts are clearly carefully crafted, and many are to me quite striking. It is not dictation but close to it. I sometimes ask for clarification or ponder a word, but 99% of the time it just comes out and I write it down. I do not change words after the fact. I do not add or subtract anything. If I feel a comment is needed for clarification, it is indicated [thus].

God tends to speak in long sentences so punctuating them can be challenging. The punctuation is mine and I attempt to maintain the thought flow. Words may be unsolicited or in response to questions or ongoing events in the world, the church or my own life. Questions often result in conversations that go off  in unexpected directions.

I do not publish everything God says. He speaks in different ways, and I publish those of a certain kind which I consider “public”. He often alludes to scripture – sometimes with a direct quote – but often paraphrasing, combining, and applying scriptures in new ways just as Christ did in the New Testament. I almost never comment on this unless it really sticks out. I simply record what God says.

It is not my job to interpret, comment on, or explain these words. They are God’s and stand for themselves. Besides, there is no reason to believe I understand all of them either. Be cautious – in that God sometimes means something other than what the words appear to say, and often the meaning becomes clearer after a period of time.

In other sections of this site I interpret visions and publish articles which are authored by me on subjects He has explained. Here [refers to original blogs] God’s words stand alone, as spoken.
